Pu’erh Tea Benefits
Pu’erh Tea has long been known by the Chinese as a medicinal tea with seeming “Wonder Tonic” properties. Long term drinkers of this tea believe that it can prolong life and that it has anti-aging properties. Because of these healthful benefits, Pu’erh Tea has been extremely popular in China for over 1800 years and has been an esteemed and prized gift within the Chinese Imperial Courts. During the Imperial period, it was known as the “tribute tea.”
Chinese historical records document that Pu’erh Tea was believed to hold a variety of health benefits besides its anti-aging effects. These other health benefits included such things as, prevention of cancer and heart disease, control of blood sugar, levels, curing dysentery, anti inflammatory effects, improving digestion and blood pressure and aiding weight loss and digestion. Modern international, medical research has only begun to study the benefits of tea with promising results, thus far.
Pu’erh tea is made from old and wild tea trees, which is believed by the Chinese to result in stronger and more powerful “Qi” (which is defined as “life force” or energy level). This “Qi” is thought to improve blood circulation and aid in the removal of toxins which cause minor aches and pains. Long term Pu’reh Tea consumption was thought to reduce cholesterol and blood pressure levels and to be a preventative agent for heart disease and cancer.
Pu’erh Tea is also a customary drink served with many Chinese dishes, where it is esteemed for its taste as well as its aid to digestion and the breaking down of heavy, or fatty foods. It is thought to clean-out the intestines and to aid in slimming-down and weight loss. Pu’reh is a great tasting tea which has been prized for centuries for its healthful effects.
